Looking northbound along the M3 motorway, which divides the parish of Compton and Shawford, with Compton on the left and Shawford on the right. The road bridge carries Otterbourne Road over the motorway. In the distance is the bowl-shaped St Catherine's Hill (site of an iron-age hill fort) and to the right of this the M3 enters the Twyford Down cutting.
