"‘The Life Line’ exhibition refers to the ritual of, and speculation about, washing lines, wardrobes and clothes hanging and seeks to investigate, explore and present some of the ideas surrounding the intrigue and mysteries of the subject. Some of the images encourage speculation, imagining either the absent wearer or the presumption of an imminent or planned occasion – or both. The emotive association with clothes hanging providing the opportunity for the spectator to consider the images in the context of personal references and in doing so creating a fiction of memory and sentiment. More surprising and enigmatic is the lack of embarrassment in hanging clothes that in other situations demands shyness; discretion and concealment The narrative and mystery beyond the conventions and pragmatism of clothes hanging, and not knowing the complete facts, suggests that study and observation of the subject is not so much gaze as guess." Prints are also hung by clothes pegs from the ceiling.
