The Grade II-listed Victoria Fountain fountain immediately west of "The Plain" roundabout and on the east side of Magdalen Bridge. This octagonal structure was designed by P.E. Warren and inaugurated by Queen Victoria's daughter, Princess Louise in 1899. The fountain is protected by a conical tiled roof with clock and weather vane and is supported on eight Tuscan columns. The structure was inaugarated two years after the Diamond Jubilee on the site of the old toll-house in front of the now long-demolished St Clement's Church. Although the clock/s are still in working order, the fountain no longer functions. In the background is part of Magdalen College School, an independent school for boys aged 7-18 years and sixth form girls. It was founded in 1480 as part of Magdalen College by William Waynflete.
