An early morning glance down Jeune Street from Cowley Road. On the right is a corner section of "The Big Society", a relaunched pub (2013) that originally traded as "The Elms". Beyond it is "The Ultimate Picture Palace" that was built on land that once belonged to "The Elms", i.e. its stable yard, whilst on the left is a corner of Cowley Road Methodist Church that opened in 1904. Stephen Salter's exterior design - Grade II listed - was influenced by the 'arts and crafts' movement of the time. Jeune Street is named after Dr Francis Jeune, Master of Pembroke College during the period 1843-64 or his wife, Margaret Dyne Jeune.
