The church was designed in the Early English style by the architect Julius Alfred Chatwin for Sir William Jaffray. It was built in 1888 and is listed Grade II. Admired by Douglas Hickman in his Shell Guide to Warwickshire, 1979. The Chatwins are thought to be local to this part of the Midlands. The late Bruce Chatwin, novelist and travel writer, was connected to the family.
