Ankcorn House is on the left. The incised slate plaque reads: Ankcorn House / Church & Community Centre / Circa 1750 - Restored 1987 / As an MSC project / Architect Graham J.Masefield / Churchwardens / J.E.Ankcorn / F.A.Stephens. The nearer of the cottages is called Yew Tree Cottage. Both are in private occupation. To the south is the Church of the Holy Ascension. This group is listed Grade II as School and Yew tree and Church Cottages, at Birmingham Road, List entry 1185753. Extracts from listing text: Shown on O.S. map as Old School Cottages. Former school and attached pair of cottages, probably former schoolhouse. School possibly mid/late C18, with C19 additions to rear; cottages early C19...School originally single classroom, with a second added...Both school and cottages have Gothick ogee-arched windows, with casements of 2 arched lights and glazing bars.
