Minehead's soldiers are not forgotten. This simple but imposing monument overlooks the seafront from Higher Town and lists a number of men who were lost in the Great War. See Image] for a closer look at the cross and Image] for a small memorial to scholars. In the background is the top of Elgin Towers; this was built in 1887 to the request of Mr Kennedy Cooke, a wealthy Scottish confectioner. He based the design on the famous original buildings in Scotland.
