Aka 'the Phil', the Philharmonic Dining Rooms (to give the establishment its formal title) was our local in the days when I was a student at the nearby Notre Dame College of Education. Boasting an impressive exterior, the Phil also has a beautifully preserved interior made up of mahogany, glass and copper panelling, all carrying decorative motifs to reflect the Liverpool Phiharmonic concert hall opposite. The gentlemen's facilities are worth a visit and I remember asking permission at closing time many years ago to visit them! The building is Grade II* listed.
