Reflectors and black-and-white highlighted kerbstones would not ordinarily be installed on such a minor back road. These, though, are a reminder of the fact that this section of Wimborne Road was the main thoroughfare northward out of Bournemouth before the Whitelegg Way, parallel and to the northeast, was built in the late 1980s. This is still a bus route and gives access to the few side roads between Redhill and Northbourne roundabouts, but apart from that it sees very little traffic nowadays.
