The sad remnant of Oldham's once extensive railway system is now the Metrolink tram line into the town. Opened substantially behind schedule, this section of route will be abandoned when a street-running section is opened at some point in 2013 or 2014, depending on how far behind schedule the project is then running. For comparative views from almost the same spot in better times for Oldham's transport facilities, see: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/812883 and http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/820139.
