Some spectacular views of the centre of Guildford can be had from Guildown out to the west of the city. The houses in the foreground are along Mareschal Road. The road going up the centre of the photo is North Street. The line of what looks like solar panels to the right are the glass panes of White Lion Walk between North Street and the High Street. Above those the light coloured buildings belong to the House of Fraser with the greenish glass atrium roof a distinctive feature. The big white building at the top is the Civic Centre with the square tower of Christ Church on Waterden Road behind. To the left of North street is the curved green roof of one of the buildings of the Royal Grammar School. On the left edge the flat green roof is the York Road multistorey car park with the pointed white spire of St Joseph's Church standing out against the trees.
