Viewed from Church Road. Dean Academy is a sponsored academy for boys and girls aged 11-16. The intake is comprehensive (ie students are not chosen by ability). The sponsor is Prospects Academies Trust, an educational training and services provider with many years of experience supporting the education sector. The Dean Academy opened in November 2012. Previously it was Whitecross School, a foundation 11–16 mixed comprehensive school, which had replaced Lydney Grammar School in 1973.
