Erected by Longhoughton Parish Council in 2004. This stone carving in red Doddington sandstone was made to remind people of the history of the village and its roots in the Celtic traditions of spirituality and the love of nature. It is on the site of an ancient cross on the pilgrim route between Holy Island and Durham. The sculpture, by Gilbert Ward of Fourstones, Hexham, suggests a Celtic cross whose shaft is broken, leading the eye ever upwards.
