The fine house seen here once had these lakes and gardens as its private garden. These days the parkland is owned by the council for the use of the public http://www.hertsmere.gov.uk/Parks--Leisure/Parks--Open-Spaces/Park-Facilities/Potters-Bar/Oakmere-Park.aspx - while the house has become a Harvester pub and restaurant.
