The main road forded this small brook until quite recently. Shortly after this culvert was built, the road was diverted. Portrux is probably another garbled form of the personal name in Poll Tax (see Image). The brook doesn't seem to have a name, although it was important enough to form the boundary between Castlebythe (west) and Henry's Moat (east).
