Mehta Opticians Newtown branch opened in Market Street in 1972. The business relocated to the purpose-built premises on the right, at 10 Shortbridge Street, in 1982. The business has three other branches, in Welshpool, Llanidloes and Presteigne. The Cook's Companion cookware showroom is on the left.
