With the Tay Railway Bridge and the old ferry terminal pier in the background, this fountain was, according to the inscription on it "The gift of Mrs Blyth-Martin in 1882". The same benefactor from East Newport also gifted the Blyth Hall to the people of Newport in memory of her three brothers, Henry, Thomas and Charles Blyth.
