In 1255 Llywelyn II defeated the combined forces of his brothers Owain and Dafydd here at Bryn-derwin. The site is reputedly haunted with sounds of battle to be heard, usually in the early morning. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owain_Goch_ap_Gruffydd
