This is Bowlalley Lane, looking towards Manor Street. Both are in the heart of Hull's business district. On the left hand margin of the picture is the entrance to a 90m long (100 yd) alley that leads into an inner courtyard, the forecourt of the Ye Olde White Harte pub. “Ye Whyte Harte” was built in 1550, by Thomas Allured, M.P. It was also the one time residence of Thomas’ grandson, John Allured, M.P., one of those who signed the death warrant of Charles I in 1642.
