The kneeling effigies on this monument are of husband and wife, Sir Piers Courtenay (†1552), and Lady Elizabeth Courtenay (†1605). Sir Piers became Lord High Treasurer, built Ugbrooke House, and was buried in its private chapel at the age of 43.
