Along the High Street there are brick-built Georgian houses and early timber-framed ones - both in good numbers. Here, the timber-framed building in the middle of the picture is known as Monks Barn - a Wealden-type house of 15th century origin. Beyond it is a long, low weather-boarded building, and then a Georgian house with gambrel roof. Just by the way: the building nearest the camera seems to be displaying a barber's pole - not that often seen these days.
