This is a Post Office stores where work is being undertaken to refurbish the ground floor. There was a notice advising the public of the date of its reopening, but as the work has taken longer than expected, there is no definite date now. Pencester Road is named after Sir Stephen de Pencester, who took over as Lord Warden after Prince Edward, later Edward I, resigned to go on the crusades. One of his important jobs was to rid the Channel of pirates.
