Just south of the castle. According to Cherry and Pevsner (in 'The Buildings of England: Hertfordshire') the cottages originated as outbuildings for the castle at about the time the main gatehouse was remodelled (in somewhat similar style). The window and doorway details are typical of the late 18th century 'Gothick' revival. Compare, for instance: Image or Image
