The re-use of old railway wagons for storage and as accommodation for animals is still common in the countryside and dates from an earlier era of railfreight, which was over by the 1970s. This wagon is largely constructed out of wood and is still in quite good condition. Modern equivalents are the use of containers, old caravans and truck bodies.
