Low Newton Junction Nature Reserve

This Local Nature Reserve was established in 1994. It occupies the site of a former sand quarry which subsequently became a railway junction where a spur line off the East Coast Main Line (just off the photograph to the left) led to the Leamside Line and on to Sunderland.
