Broadbottom is now predominantly a dormitory village with its residents working in Manchester and elsewhere, that was not always the case as the River Etherow powered cotton mills and dyeing processes this provided employment for hundreds. This cobbled track that’s now covered with a thin layer of soil would have been used by the workers of that time.
