The box on the left (at the corner of Downpatrick Street and the Station Road) holds an automated external defibrillator which can be used, under instruction from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, by dialling 999. The box is a joint venture between Queen’s University, a local doctor, Down District Council, the British Red Cross, BT and local residents who raised £4,000. The one on the right is a conventional BT telephone box.
