This crossing of the canal was just a farmers' accommodation bridge, serving some agricultural buildings on the east side of the canal where the new Yelvertoft Marina has since been built. Nonetheless the bridge is part of the original canal infrastructure and probably dates from no later than 1814 when the route was opened. It is one of many Grade II Listed bridges along the canal.
