A view north across the River Wye, which is 50 metres wide at this point. Located 75 metres west of Wye Bridge (at the right edge of the view), Greyfriars Bridge carries the A49 over the river. Named after a monastery that was formerly nearby, the bridge was opened to traffic on January 19th 1967. The bridge is 140 metres long, 25 metres wide and 9 metres above the normal summer level of the Wye.
