Named after Caroline of Brunswick, the wife of King George IV, Caroline Street is often referred to locally as Chip(py) Lane or Chip(py) Alley because of its many fast-food outlets. This one, selling kebabs, pizza and fried chicken, is at 38 Caroline Street.
