The Ipswich Transport Museum collection was started by the Ipswich Transport Preservation Group in 1965. It obtained use of its present premises, the old Priory Heath trolley-bus depot in Cobham Road, in 1988 and it has been open to the public on a part-time basis since 1995. Its orientation is towards road vehicles built or used in and around this area.
