The church occupies part of the triangle south of the junction of Walford Road and Sussex Avenue. The church was designed in the Early English style and is cruciform in plan. Its foundation stone was laid on September 10th 1930. An incised stone tablet in the wall of the porch has this inscription: "This Church was erected in honour of the Most Blessed Sacrament, and was dedicated to Saint Frances of Rome as an act of love and gratitude to her Divine Master by Frances Mary Webb, who departed this life on November 3rd 1929." The parish's patron saint is Santa Francesca Romana, (St. Frances of Rome) the patron saint of widows and motorists. She was born in Rome in 1384.
