Downs Road leads away from Istead Rise along the bottom of a valley, and a little way ahead turns left up Nash Bank to Wrotham Road (A227) or right up Walnut Tree Road to New Barn. This was a thoroughly wet and miserable afternoon. Beyond the fence on the right are the grounds of the workers' houses for Northfleet Pumping Station - see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3474076
