Opened in 1870 by the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway on the line from Wakefield to Pontefract, this station closed to regular passengers in 1958 and completely in 1967. View north east from a public crossing towards Streethouse and Pontefract. The low westbound platform is clearly visible. The station had a staggered arrangement with the east-bound platform and 2-storey main station building being beyond the foot-crossing on the left. These have all been demolished and the houses built nearby. The staggered arrangement was necessary as there was a triangular junction in the left foreground to local collieries. Some of these tracks could still be found in the undergrowth at the time this image was taken.
