Earthbanks have been erected across the old B9097 as it approaches the site of the Westfield open cast. The bigger berm has a helpful set of steps cut into it. An older earthwork is the grassed over bing in the background suggesting that someone was scratching at the surface of the huge Westfield coal deposit before the era of the open cast mine. The B9097 was closed and destroyed by the open cast workings.
