Listed Barn at Ripley

This barn is elevated on Staddle Stones. These mushroom-shaped stones were used to lift barns and granaries off the ground. This kept the contents dry, and stopped vermin getting in, as they were unable to climb past the staddle stone caps. A local resident assured me that the barn was listed for preservation.
