Northern Rail diesel unit 150 205 waits at Helsby to form one of the afternoon departures to Ellesmere Port (despite its destination blind indicating otherwise). This line has an infrequent passenger service that appears to be operated chiefly for employees at Stanlow oil refinery: at the time of my visit, the service was two trains each way in the morning, and the same late in the afternoon. The main service through Helsby is that between Manchester and the north Wales coast (often Llandudno) via Warrington and Chester.
