The modern office building is on the corner of Herschel Street and Windsor Road. It occupies the site of an earlier building also named Observatory House owned by astronomer William Herschel, discoverer of the planet Uranus. In the late 18th century and early 19th century, this was the location of his 40-foot telescope, at the time the largest in the world.
