Junction of Glassford Street and Wilson Street

Glassford Street is named after John Glassford (1715-1783), a wealthy tobacco lord, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Glassford . Wilson Street is so called because in the 1770s Glasgow merchant George Wilson founded a charity school here, where impoverished boys could receive education and clothing.
