View SE, towards Bishop's Stortford and London, at the level-crossing that separates the Down and the Up platforms: ex-GER Liverpool Street - Cambridge etc. main line, junction for former Thaxted branch which closed 15/9/52 (passengers), 1/6/53 (goods). The main line was electrified, Bishop's Stortford - Cambridge in 1987.
