A secondhand National single cylinder diesel that can drive the mill when water is low. It is started by an electric motor with a friction drive onto the flywheel rim. It was run briefly for a small group of visitors and sounded marvellous. The engine is of 28-30 hp and its fuel consumption is relatively minuscule.
