This tree was planted by the, then Prince of Wales, later to be King Edward VII on 16th.August 1875. The occasion was the opening of the first public park in Sheffield (Firth Park), the land having been donated by Mark Firth. The wooden base for a plaque is still in place although the metal plaque is long gone.
