Behind the Wesleyan Chapel in Church Street is the former Wesleyan School, in existence by 1867. There were separate entrances, as was the norm, for boys (left) and girls (right). The East Riding County Council replaced this school in 1911 by the Sutton Council School. The Potterill Lane premises are now an integral part of the Sutton Methodist Church.
