Originally a National (Church of England) School, built 1859 and extended 1911, to provide education for children in Sutton on Hull and Stoneferry. Although the school closed in 1977, it is now the 'Sutton Exhibition & Resource Centre', an educational centre and museum, linked to St James' Church http://www.rhaywood.karoo.net/suttonandwawne/suttonandwawne.htm Listed Building Grade II http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-491711-the-old-school- Depicted is the museum entrance, to the left of which is a restored seat from the former railway station in the village. The inscription reads: '1864 Sutton on Hull 1964'. The dates correspond to the opening and closing of the line to passenger traffic. The seat is painted in the livery of the Hull & Hornsea Railway Company, which operated from 1862 to 1866.
