Nottingham's General Hospital stood on this site from 1782-1992. The rotunda, the former Jubilee Wing, designed by Alfred Waterhouse, has been a distinctive shape on the city skyline since 1900. The narrow St James's Street runs down the hill to Beastmarket Hill at the west end of the Market Square.
