The South Of Scotland Electricity Board (more widely known as SSEB) ceased to exist in 1990 when its Hunterston A nuclear power station was shut down and its Hunterston B and Torness power stations transferred to Scottish Nuclear ownership. The remainder of the company became Scottish Power at that time.
