A fine brick house built for Josiah Wedgwood by Derby architect Joseph Pickford, c1770. The wings were added later. Grade II listed. Writing in 1974, Pevsner commented that Wedgwood, "could look across landscape to the canal, inspired by him, and the works, built by him. Now that view is desolation." The Wedgwood buildings have gone forever, but since that was written some inroads appear to have been made into the desolation. The house itself is now a Best Western hotel. The photographer location is uncertain.
