The Ship Inn, a traditional village local, occupies Nos.44 & 46 Church Street. Originally built as a house, circa 1804, on land owned by the Chamberlain Trust, it was in use as a public house by 1815. The Trust sold the inn with its two adjacent almshouses in 1953. Shortly afterwards, the pub was extended to incorporate the almshouses. Viewed from the car park to the rear of the public house with, at left, stable block with tumbled gables and what appear to be the original openings. Image
