Quay House & The Coal Store

It's hard to believe that the Lagan Canal once ran from (right to the left of the photo), pass the gable wall of the Coal Store (centre of the photo). There was once a small quay that ran down the front of the Coal Store, this was used for unloading coal. Quay House was owned by the Agnew family, who operated a coal business. The image was made from the motorway bridge on Old Hillsborough Rd, this bridge replaced Boyle's Bridge when this section of the M1 motorway was constructed between 1961 & 1966.
