This sign has been around for as long as I can remember ... at least 60 years, when I was being wheeled around the Lake in my pushchair accompanied by Dad, Mum, my sister and two older brothers ... and it was always sunny! Fairhaven Lake is a natural sea water lake formed by the Fairhaven Estates Company and first filled in 1893. I was always told that the 'lake area' was formed by the removal of stone cobbles to build the cobbled wall around the Lytham Hall Estate. There is an inlet / outlet pipe leading to the Ribble Estuary which maintains the lake's 1.2 metre depth at its deepest point. See ... Image Image For more views ... see ...
